Last night I decided to install Windows 7 on my desktop. When I do a complete reinstall of an OS I like to set aside an entire day to do this. After all, I need to install the OS, download all the latest patches, transfer my files back, install all my applications, set my settings, and so on…
Here’s the play-by-play for my Windows 7 Install:
- Reformat using Windows Vista x64 (I wanted a fresh install. It’s probably been a couple of years.. Oops).
- Start Windows Updates. Reboot numerous times.
- Sleep (12:21 AM).
- Wake-up and start updates again (10:43 AM). Reboot numerous times.
- Rake/cleanup the yard.
- Check and continue with updates. Reboot numerous times.
- Make and eat dinner (chicken on the grill). Continue updates. Vista Service Pack 1, finally!! Reboot again…
- INSTALL WINDOWS 7!!!
- Find out that my wireless card is not compatible with Windows 7 (7:43 PM).. Priceless/Epic FAIL.
- Windows 7 installed without internet and updates…
- Calling it quits (8:50 PM).
More to come…
